Frequently asked questions
Each HTTP request to the SchoolIndex API counts as one call, regardless of how many school records are returned. Requests to the bulk search endpoint count as one call per page of results. Failed requests (4xx / 5xx) do not count towards your monthly quota.
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle so you keep your current quota until month-end.
Yes — paying annually saves you roughly 20% compared to monthly billing. Toggle between monthly and annual pricing above to see the difference. Annual plans are billed upfront as a single payment.
Requests beyond your plan limit return a 429 Too Many Requests response. Your existing integration will not break — API keys stay active. You can upgrade your plan at any time during the month to restore access immediately.
The Explorer tier is free forever, so you can evaluate the API with no time limit. We don't currently offer a free trial of paid features, but if you'd like to test a specific capability before committing, get in touch and we'll work something out.
